He took her out on Valentine's Day but instead of taking her to a romantic spot, he took her to Chik-Fil-A — a fast-food restaurant. That is an acceptable option, perhaps, for struggling college students, but not a good choice for a mature person in their 70s who is on a first-date with a lady of similar age-range. Then, to make matters worse, he complained about the $15 bill once they sat down to eat.
He also was not a good conversationalist and the evening turned out to be rather awkward and unenjoyable for for my neighbor. After telling the story and leaving us in disbelief over the events of that evening, she made a quip that had all of us laughing: "Talk is cheap, but you have to pay to ride the train!"

Of course, she wasn't speaking only about the small amount of money he spent, but the fact that he had not invested enough of his true self in the evening. But, it was a perfect comment! Only when we invest enough of ourselves, as well as our resources, can we expect excellent results.
😂
I laugh about her quip every time I think about it!
