Reese Mountain

There are so many charming sights in the Blue Ridge Mountains, which is a sub-chain of the greater Appalachian Mountain Range. The Appalachians are not as high as mountains in some areas of the world because they are older and have been gradually worn-down by millennia of wind and rain.

Most of the mountains in the Blue Ridge are heavily forested, and are quite a beautiful sight in autumn, when all the deciduous trees sport prettily-colored leaves. The trees on this mountain, huddled together as they are, have not been subjected to quite the effects of the wind like the lone tree in the foreground to the right, which is already completely bare.

I love living near the mountains because of the diversity they add to the landscape and the havens for wildlife they provide. I have lived near (or in) a mountainous region most of my life (except for six of my sixty-four years) and can't imagine being away from them again!
