Each of these tokens actually does something with the income received by the issuer of the token when they are purchased, and then a small percentage of the ROI from their project is returned to the token holders as a "thank you" for the support. I first became aware of this when one of these tokens was given to me as a gift and I saw what happened afterwards. I learned about the other two by networking with folks on the blockchain.

πΈ The @qurator project has issued the Q token which returns a nice dividend to both holders of the Q token as well as to those who delegate to their curation project. I have been pleased with the dividends so far, and probably will be increasing my participation in their project.
πΈ The @tipu project has the TIPU token which returns a dividend to token holders. The return is currently smaller than that of the Q token, but it is a cheaper token, too, so better for those without much liquid Steem to spend, or those new to the passive income concept.
πΈ The @solairitas project has the SOL token and seeks to construct a grid-tied solar/wind farm. Token holders are rewarded with upvotes from the project in lieu of dividends, but that is still a nice trickle of economic incentive while helping further a clean-energy project. Of course, the ROI on this token requires one to write posts, so it isn't as "passive" as the other two, but hey...
The following is a screenshot from my SteemWallet on @steempeak which shows a few of the returns:

The rewards might look small, but remember that I am only holding a few of the tokens for each project at the moment (10 Q, 15 TIPU, 40 SOL), and little bits add-up over time! All three of these tokens are available on the Steem-Engine exchange for anyone interested.
