I have mentioned before how one of my sister-in-law's two cats (both under my care on a long-term "temporary" basis) loves the outdoors. He is estimated to be around 14-years-old and can definitely take care of himself. So, while he has been here, he has been allowed to explore the outdoors regularly.
At first, he was going out for a short while at a time, but spending most of his time indoors. As the weather has warmed from winter-to-summer, he has been spending more time outside before wanting back indoors. In fact, now he is spending almost all of his time outdoors and basically only comes in to eat, get a scritch behind his ears from me, and then he is at the door again, meowing to go back out!

The property where I currently reside has about a half-acre (which is about 0.2 hectares, if my online conversion is correct). So, there is plenty of space for him to explore and relax outdoors. Sometimes I can't see him when I go outside, and I am pretty sure he has wandered over to a neighbor's property for a peek.

When not patroling for squirrels, chipmunks, and pesky stray cats, he curls-up for a a catnap in the grass or under one of the trees and seems happy as can be for a while.
