OLD BARN № 076

This barn is located on a homestead not far from where all the recent barns in my blog are located. If you look to the right-side of the photo below, an old-time well is visible, with a hand-crank to lower and raise a bucket for drawing water. I'm not sure if this is a true relic of times-past or if it is just a replica of one such old well. That, plus the handmade split-rail fence in front of the barn adds a nice touch to the scene!

This barn might have stables inside, it's hard to tell in this view from the roadside. But, there is definitely some equipment stored under the awnings on both sides. If there are stables inside, of course, there is probably a larger door on the backside of the barn, not visible here.

The most charming thing about this old barn is the hand-painted plaque above the door with the steer's head on it. It's a very cool and rustic touch!

With the steer drawn on the plaque, I had to wonder if the owner really raises livestock or whether this was a random decoration. The owner's house and barn are nestled in a small area surrounded by trees, but there are some fields nearby. In fact, the aerial view of this spot shows some very large fields beyond the trees behind the barn!

The aerial photo, above, also reveals that there is another barn behind the one in my first photo. It isn't as tall, so it is completely hidden behind the first barn, and isn't as wide but is just as deep.
