Very close to where my parents lived was this lovely, weathered barn. It is on a very small "farm" where the landowner has a sizable vegetable garden to feed his family. I think he has a few chickens, too. There is a huge pasture adjacent to the barn and house, where I suspect horses or cows grazed many years ago.

This barn is very simple and rustic in design, and I imagine that the landowner built it, himself, without a big community effort as would be required for larger barns. I walked past this barn many times on my way to school as a child. I remember just past this barn was a thicket of honeysuckle which always smelled so wonderful in the springtime when the flowers were blooming!
