Based on the length of the barn and the row of ventilation windows near the top of the wall, I'd guess that this barn was for keeping livestock safe and warm at night or in cold weather. I can imagine dairy cows or horses in there, munching on hay until they're allowed back into the green pasture. If anyone on a farm knows better than me what purpose this type of structure serves, please let me know!
The rust pattern on the roof is curious, how it comes down in three strips from the apex of the roof, with two un-rusted strips in the middle. I can't quite figure out how that happened!
I do wish I could remember exactly where in Anderson County, SC, this barn is located. Perhaps one day when I am down that way again (which isn't often), I will keep my eyes peeled for it!
