The area where I live is rather rural, as the nearest town only has a population of 3,000 people. It irks me, somewhat, to hear people say they live in a "small town" when the stats list populations like 15,000-20,000 people or more, as it is obvious they have NO clue what a "small town" really is! Anyway, I digress...

Driving the roads through the countryside will take the traveler past many barns. Some of them are newish and modern-looking, but most show the beautiful weathered-wood of years of use in the elements. I call them all "old" barns, and have enjoyed making photographs of them over the past few years. I call that my "Old Barn Project," and even though it has over three-hundred barns in it, there are still plenty more to photograph in this county, alone!

This barn is only a couple of miles from the house, and I pass it frequently when I take our household recycling and garbage to the nearest landfill transfer station. It was this beauty that inspired me to start the Old Barn Project, so it has the distinction of being № 001 on the list. 😊
