Hivefest VI ~ Day 2

In life, there seems to always be a trade-off of some sort. My AltVR software allowed me an easier entry into Day 2 of Hivefest VI this year than it did on Day 1, but there were still some small glitches. Many of us were not able to participate in @hivebuzz's HiveFest⁢ Meetings Contest because for much of the day, the badges were either (1) not scannable and clicking them had no affect at all, or (2) the badges completely disappeared! When the badges were visible and scannable, though, it was fun checking stats, distributing BEER tokens, and so forth, but that lasted only for a short time period.

My funniest exchange about the HiveFest⁢ Meetings Contest was when I approached one person (who shall remain nameless, to save them embarassment) with plans to chat with them for a few minutes. We had hardly began our conversation when I suggested we try to scan badges while we talked (before the functionality of such disappeared again). He then replied, "But then, we'd have to talk for a minute or two" as if that were such a bad thing! LOL! In the end, we finally talked for five minutes or so, but never got a mutual badge scan.

The presentations were quite good again this year, full of useful information about existing projects as well as new projects coming down the pipeline. If you missed the presentations, or wish to re-listen to some, the live-streams were recorded and are available here:

There were many good presenters there, too, as typical. All of them came armed with well-thought presentations and slides. I was thrilled to see Crimsonclad making a presentation, as she is one of the coolest and most delightful people on the platform. Another presenter had a hilarious ending slide which thanked the audience for not falling asleep! Thanks for the chuckle, Smooms! LOL! 😜

As last year, there were plenty of interactive toys scattered about the festival, including the nifty glockenspiel pictured below. It was on the lawn behind the NFT Showroom building. It really pays to explore the grounds in detail! 😁 In various other places, there were fireworks which could be launched, basketballs & hoops, paper that could be wadded and pitched into trashcans, velcro balls & targets, batons which could be twirled, rounded 'pillow' things that could be rolled, and bean-bag cornhole games.

For those who wanted a bit more in a 'game' than interactive toys, there was a game space called "Holograms Against Reality" where one could take a seat at the table and play with other Hivefest attendees in real-time. I've never played the "Cards Against Humanity" game, but I understand it is similar in design. I watched the game from the sidelines for a bit until I got the hang of what was going on before joining. I won the first round, much to my surprise! The game was funny and brought many chuckles and guffaws around the table. The only embarrassing moment was when it was my turn to be the "Card Czar" and I wasn't prepared — I didn't realize my turn had arrived, my mic was muted, and I was in la-la-land, waiting for something else to happen. Everyone started asking, "What's going on, is she asleep?"  Logic even waved a VR-enabled hand in front of my face! LOL! Sorry about that, folks, if you were one of the others at the table! πŸ˜‚

Probably the longest time I spent with any one Hivefester was at the end of Day 2 when one of my fellow Staff members of TheTerminal @drakernoise and I wandered through the NFT Showroom gallery together, looking at the artworks and talking about the ones we most liked. It was nice hanging with him and chatting!

As I did last year, I had fun wandering around every little nook-and-cranny of the various environments. It's interesting to find the little hidden secrets of seldom visited spots, places one can hide and not be found, as well as vistas only visible to those who walk off the beaten path. One lovely scene I found is shown above, with vermillion cliffs and a landscape bathed in pastel colors like a cotton candy world. It's almost like one could get a sugar-rush eating their way through the confectionary trees and mountains! 😊
