Hi, Ho, Silver!

Early in the year 2014 in the Western World, the Year of the Horse began in the Chinese Calendar. That calendar cycles through the Chineze zodiac's twelve animals, and a separate cycle steps through the Five Elements of fire, earth, metal, water, and wood. Thus, the year 2014 in Western reckoning corresponded to a year of the Wood Horse in Chinese recokoning.

The obverse (front) of this silver round features a magnificent depiction of a horse in motion. Beside it is the word "horse" rendered in traditional Chinese writing. The "key" pattern around the border looks more Greco-Roman to me than Chinese art, but I am no expert in such things.

The reverse of the round features, again, the word "horse" in traditional Chinese writing. Across the top is "2014 YEAR OF THE HORSE" and "ONE TROY OUNCE .999 FINE SILVER" appears across the bottom.

Those who remember the old television show "The Lone Ranger" might remember his hearty cry of, "Hi, Ho, Silver!" as he urged his horse into action at the end of each show. With my goofy sense-of-humor, I thought that to be a fitting title for a piece of silver with a horse on it. 😂
