Most of my life, I have lived in the piedmont region of the Appalachian Mountains. "Pied" means "foot" in French, and "mont" means "mountain," so "piedmont" refers to that region near the base of mountains where the landscape breaks away into rolling hills.
I can drive to the closest mountain in under five minutes, and this lovely scene is about twenty minutes away from where I live.
The mountain is called Clear Creek Mountain, and is part of the Blue Ridge Mountains, a sub-chain of the greater Appalachian Mountain Range.
