A relatively common sight in the southeastern US is the Black Vulture (Coragyps atratus). According to Wikipedia, there is a Eurasian bird with the same name, but is unrelated. They look so majestic in flight against a sea of blue sky!
Although not a pretty bird up close, I find these birds fascinating to watch from a distance as they soar through the sky. Their ability to catch wind currents effortlessly and drift for long periods of time without flapping their wings is absolutely amazing!
