BVC - Boyer Visions Challenge #4

We are back on track with another exciting photography challenge on the platform. Introducing BVC - Boyer Visions Challenge contest #4 sponsored by our awesome #DERANGEDCOIN... The theme this week is "Clouds"

For this challenge I want to share a phenomenal display of clouds which presented itself to me recently. Look at the photo carefully — click to enlarge it! — and you will see so many things: a brilliant sunburst blasting through one cloud, long streaks of what might have been condensation trails left behind by the jet engines of aircraft, a curious squiggly corkscrew-shaped cloud on the left... and last, but certainly not least, note the rainbow patch of a Sun Dog visible in the cloud on the right, about ¼ of the way from the right-side of the shot!

A Sun Dog is formed when sunlight is refracted by ice crystals in clouds, usually in high-flying cirrus clouds. Sun Dogs can frequently be seen in pairs, 22° on each side of the sun. If cirrus clouds are abundant enough, an entire circular "halo" can be seen around the sun, and Sun Dogs are arcs that are part of this sometimes-invisible circle.

Just as automobiles or trucks sometimes can be seen leaving trails of smoke behind, jet aircraft engines leave trails of water vapor behind them, naturally. Those trails of water vapor are called condensation trails, because the water vapor condenses in the atmosphere in the same way that water vapor condenses (or "fogs") a window due to temperature differences.
