Autumn Cat #caturday

Not long ago, our weather here at the 35°N parallel turned to autumn with slightly cooler temperatures. Although it has reached the freezing mark several times just an hour north of me, temperatures at my house have only dropped to about 42°F (5.5°C).

Outdoor cat still likes spending most of his time outside, even during the cooler hours when it is dark outside. However, very late at night or during the wee hours of morning (when I am still awake), he likes to come in to eat something and then curl-up beside me on the sofa for a little lovin' before going back outdoors.

First, he wants his head scratched, especially scritches behind the ears where he can't reach so easily. Then, he settles down for some back rubs. He is a Turkish Angora breed, so his coat is very long, silky, and soft. Because of this, the cooler weather does not seem to bother him at all, and he's still ready to go back outside even if I shiver a bit when I open the door. It will be interesting to see what happens when the temperature drops even lower as the season progresses. He loves the outdoors so much that it's a good bet that he will still be begging to go outdoors, at least to do his "business" (he hates the litter box, and only uses it if he has to). I'm just curious whether he will be ready to come back inside during colder weather rather soon after going potty, or not. Time will tell!
