Allegories – Columbia & Germania 2019

As a woman, I have enjoyed opting for feminine imagery on many of the coins and silver bullion in my collection. So, I was thrilled to see the series named "Allegories" by the Germania Mint! Each item in the series features the feminine representations of two nations, posing in a spirit of peace and cooperation.

This artistic piece is titled "Columbia & Germania," where "Columbia" represents the New World, in general, and the United States, in particular. From the mint's website:

Germania Mint presents a modern interpretation of both poetic personifications of America and the ancient Germanic land. In the second chapter of The Allegories, the feminine symbols of the United States and Germania walk together towards the future, symbolizing the common European past and tradition. [source]

Above is the series name "ALLEGORIES" and to the left of the figures is "1 oz 999.9 FINE SILVER." The ladies are walking hand-in-hand, each carrying the flag of the country she embodies.

The reverse (shown above-right) features a shield encircled by a wreath. All of the symbolism is described in great deal on this page of the Germania Mint for those interested in reading further. Across the top is "GERMANIA," the year of minting (2019), and the denomination of "5 MARK" appears at bottom.

This particular design is available in the 1-ounce silver variety, as I have here, but also in 2-ounce, 5-ounce, and 10-ounce choices! More details about each of them can be read here: https://germaniamint.com/series/the-allegories/

I am definitely thrilled to have this piece in my collection!
