Across the Pond

An errand recently gave me cause to drive past this delightful little pond with a gazebo built out over the water. A small boardwalk connects it to the shore, so people can walk to it without getting their feet wet. It is on private property, owned by a business, so perhaps they built it as a retreat for employees during breaks from work or during their lunch hour.

As I drove past, en route to a different destination down the small road, I stopped the car and rolled my window down to take this shot. With the creative processing, I hope it qualifies for the #creativecoin tag without this post being downvoted.

The parking lot can be seen at the bottom of the photo, while the factory is off-screen at bottom. It is nice to see businesses offering options for employees such as this little place to relax and unwind during breaks in a busy work day.

What I find most curious is the construction of the boardwalk, which does not make a straight path to the gazebo — if one looks closely, it is built perpendicular to the shore for a few feet, then turns and runs at an angle for a few more feet, then again turns perpendicular to the shore as it attaches to the gazebo! Perhaps something about the ground beneath the water made this a better option...?
